Title: Benefits of a Diverse Workforce in Security: How to Avoid Groupthink in the Intelligence Cycle?

Description:

An intelligence team staffed by individuals with diverse identities, experiences, and language capabilities ensures the ability to understand nuances and propaganda, obtain multiple viewpoints on developments, and accurately report on information across the globe. It will help to disseminate factual, culturally appropriate, unbiased, and timely intelligence. In addition to a diverse team, processes should be in place to allow for open discussion among analysts and across supervisory roles. How is groupthink combatted by the individual and the organization? How do you utilize constructive disagreement in the analytical process? We will discuss steps required to be taken to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce in security, and how it helps to avoid groupthink.

Learning Objective #1: Understand the benefits of leading a diverse workforce and basic steps organizations can take to hire and maintain a diverse workforce.

Learning Objective #2: Learn how to avoid groupthink within intelligence teams by ensuring group culture allows for discussion and disagreement.
