Title: Partnerships That Work: Retail & Law Enforcement Become Allies in the War Against ORC

Description:

Organized Retail Crime (ORC) continues to grow in scope and violence. Progress is being made thanks to public-private partnerships where retailers and law enforcement join forces to mitigate ORC. In California, one of the worst-hit states, Governor Newsom has signed grants pumping millions into fighting ORC and has strengthened laws making the sale of stolen merchandise more difficult. Law enforcement can use these grants to partner with retailers in deploying ORC-fighting technology. This session will feature a seasoned law enforcement professional with current membership on multiple California ORC task forces. The session will also feature a major apparel retailer on the impact of ORC and measures they are taking, together, to combat it.

Learning Objective #1: Understand the current status of ORC from a law-enforcement perspective, what key initiatives are in place, and how public-private partnerships can be developed to help retailers fight ORC.

Learning Objective #2: See from a retailer's perspective the key challenges that are posed by ORC, best practices for identifying and deploying the right technology, and how to train staff to remain safe.
